Oh hey internet, it’s been a while…

Blogging is not what it used to be anymore. With the rise of social media platforms, personal blogging has all but bit the dust. Facebook has been my personal soapbox, on Tumblr I can share things that I like, Pinterest has replaced my need for “inspiration” folders on my computer, and my Twitter account would be collecting dust if it wasn’t the cross-post receptacle for my Tumblr posts.

Last year, I’d made a resolution to make more makeup videos, and I was doing good with a once-a-week routine, but that ended very quickly once I started going to makeup school and commuting an hour and a half 5 days a week; I just didn’t have the time anymore.

Now I do have the time, and I have the skill, and I even have a better webcam, but I’ve just been nothing short of lazy about it. If I started making more videos, or even picture tutorials, it would give me more stuff to post here. Plus, I’ve been thinking about moving some of my larger-scale rants and introspections off of facebook, since no one on there actually wants to read anything that you have to click “read more” for.

I don’t want to give up on my little personal corner of the web, but at the same time, it seems almost impossible to have your foothold out there and be found and read without a thorough knowledge and use of SEO. And who has the time for that? Except for of course people who are in that line of work anyway, so the rest of us turn to Tumblr or Facebook or Twitter or any of the other social media platforms (that actually own your soul and are stripped of personalization) to share our thoughts.
